The NCK Exam Syllabus Explained
The NCK exam covers a wide range of subjects across clinical nursing, community health and professional practice. This is the full picture, so your revision leaves nothing out.
Paper 1: clinical nursing
Paper 1 focuses on the direct care of patients across the lifespan. It covers medical-surgical nursing, paediatrics, critical care and theatre, midwifery and reproductive health, gynaecology, STI and HIV/AIDS, and professionalism and ethics.
Paper 2: community, mental health and research
Paper 2 covers the community and professional foundations of nursing: community health, environmental health, communicable diseases, mental health, nursing research, leadership and management, sociology, and teaching methodology.
How the exam is structured
For basic and degree cadres such as KRCHN and BScN, the licensure exam is two papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2 (most post-basic specialties sit one). It is computer-based at a designated examination centre. Each paper runs for two hours with multiple-choice questions, and you must pass every paper.
